A glimpse of the opening
The salvage ship is still outside the work area. The contract asks only for a cargo box, but the monitor beside the sonar picks up a broken signal that may be a call for help. Ailin mutes the commercial channel and keeps the distress monitor. You are both on the bridge.
“Do not dive yet, and do not assume there is a person. Will you check the signal with me? If help is needed, I will handle the contract. Agreeing to dive for work does not mean accepting every risk I choose.”
